The first attempt to carry out the project took place in 2004 when two bands introduced themselves. Even then the attendance was promising as the concert was attended by visitors from other municipalities and the neighboring country of Croatia. The concert was quite popular among young people, but because of the studies of the organizers the project could not be carried out the following year.
In 2006 we regrouped and organized the Open Smile Jam to allow local unknown bands to introduce themselves and become acquainted with playing on live stage, as well as obtain additional motivation to keep on creating music. Even then we had the vision of founding an association, whereby the donations of the visitors helped us turn this vision into reality. Thus we founded the Association for the Advancement of Culture (A Kultúra Fejlődéséért Egyesület) with the aim of developing and promoting cultural and artistic activities and creativity, as well as conveying and protecting cultural values.
The long-term aim of the project is to turn it into a festival, lasting for several days and including several stages and wider programs, as well as promoting amateur bands from our region and especially their musical improvisation. Besides organizing workshops we could also allow various civil associations to introduce their own programs.
